A New Year, A Fresh Hope

As women looking at a new year, we most assuredly are looking at it with hopes and dreams, whether it’s in the midst of joy or pain.  In realizing this, I came across this quote…

“God is looking for people through whom He can do the impossible.

What a pity when we plan only the things we can do by ourselves.” – A.W. Tozer

What does this quote stir in you?

As we look to the new year, put up new calendars, open fresh pages of our daytimers and iCals, we all dream of events filled with joy.  Meetings filled with accomplishment. Families intent on love.

We dream and plan for the stirrings in our hearts, desiring to be and do all that God has gifted us to be.  We want to jump into our callings or perhaps take our calling to the next level.

This year, will I plan for myself, by myself, or will I submit, bow, wait, and see what my God would want to pour into my life?

When I read this quote by Tozer, my heart in desperation said…I want that.

What does it look like to be a person through whom God can do the impossible?

Does it even seem…possible?  Is it possible to be that person?  Do we believe that God so wants to capture our hearts as His, to have communion and community with us, to speak personally to our hearts and tell us of things unknown?

Call to Me and I will answer you, and I will tell you great and mighty things, which you do not know.  Jeremiah 33:3

As I heard on Sunday morning, the first day of the week, the first day of the new year…. what I need is more Jesus.  Life in my own power yields human-sized results.  A life lived in submission to what God wants for me ushers in His limitless love, peace and strength.

I want that.

Lord as I enter into this new year, may I be a woman, wife, mother, daughter and friend that lives strongly in the knowledge that you are present.  Remind me that you are present in my daily tasks, my meetings, my car rides, my plans.  Thank you that you speak to my heart.  I praise you that in your speaking and your movings, you want to do the impossible as I listen….let me be a woman who pauses to truly hear.
