His Strength Is Perfect

Lauren’s post this week struck a cord with me…anyone else?

I have gone back to 2 Corinthians 12:9 several times where Jesus says,

“My grace is sufficient for you, for My strength is made perfect in weakness.”

Like you, I wear a lot of hats.  And maybe like some of you, I have days where I don’t feel like I wear those hats well.  At all.  My heart has rested, though, in this promise that His strength is PERFECT in my weakness.  Nobody likes to admit they are weak, yet our lives are demanding.  We often feel like we must be SuperWoman, able to take on the world, whip up a fabulous meal and leap over small children in a single bound.  However, this verse gives us a safety net to fall into, showing us that when we feel inadequate, that is exactly where Jesus’ power does its best work.

This week Lauren challenged us to look at our purposes and callings, then prayerfully consider what’s holding us back.  I read a blog this week that connects to this directly.  Written by my friend, Carey Scott, it examines some reasons why we stay stuck in our insecurities.  Take a look…

Wow! This was a great study, Lauren. Thank you so much. We are a group of about 5-6 in Kansas doing this study with you all and this weeks really struck a chord in all of us. Our inadequacies can really do a number on us but oh how God can use that, what a wonderful reminder. As women we hold many jobs, as Julie said; wife, mother, daughter, friend…and then there’s the other tough jobs; counselor, camp director, nurse, house cleaner, teacher, chauffeueur, cook….oh my the list goes on and on. So how do we add another thing, that some”thing” that God is challengning us to step out and do, like lead a study, join a group….”well I don’t know enough of the bible, I can’t memorize that on top of everything else I do.” “LORD!” “How can I do all this?” 2 Cor 12:9 He gives us the grace and His strength in our weaknesses. It’s through these inadequacies that He works through us. What an amazing gift to be able to do something so much more than we could imagine and do it even when we don’t feel equipped because He will equip us. Like Carrie said, “God doesn’t call the equipped. He equips the called.” Love that!!

Susie, you are such an encourager to so many women. So thankful for your example of stepping out in faith to lead.
